The Boston Celtics grant a slam-dunk wish for six teens

Type:  Announcements

For six wish children battling life-threatening medical conditions, the players of the Boston Celtics are more than just great athletes — they’re inspiring heroes who make wishes come true!

Celtics games are a wonderful source of entertainment and escape for these courageous teens as they face daily struggles and challenges. This week, the wish children were able to meet their basketball idols in-person when their fondest wishes were fulfilled.

Wish children from across the country, including Kevin, a 13-year-old from Massachusetts diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease, began their wish experience with a private tour of the Celtics’ practice facility.

After the wish families watched the Celtics in action during a practice session, Kevin’s wish came true when he met Celtics forward Kevin Garnett. Stars Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Rajon Rondo were also on-hand to greet the excited wish children and sign autographs.

The following day, the teens and their families received the VIP treatment as the Celtics took on the New Jersey Nets. A tour of the Celtics executive offices and a courtside view of warm-ups made the teens feel like true celebrities. During the game, the wish children cheered the Celtics onto victory from their incredible suite at the TD Garden and felt their spirits soar!

Thank you to TD Garden, the Boston Celtics, and the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation for helping create this unforgettable experience.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island was honored to assist our sister organizations in Indiana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Utah in facilitatating their children’s wishes.
