Why do we grant wishes?

After receiving the devastating news of a life-threatening diagnosis,

a child’s world is turned upside down.  Suddenly, carefree childhood days are overshadowed by exhaustive medical treatments, fear, and often sadness.

Yet amidst these changes, another transformation occurs when a child is asked, “What do you wish for?” Joy returns and anticipation, excitement, and hope for the future are ignited.

Physicians report that children who have a wish granted experience tangible improvements in their physical, emotional, and social health. Whether their wish was fulfilled around the world or in their own backyard, their lives are transformed through the power of a wish.

More than 500 children in Massachusetts and Rhode Island are newly diagnosed with a serious illness each year. Like all children, these kids deserve to experience hope for the future, strength to endure challenges, and unimaginable joy. We need YOUR SUPPORT to transform the life of every eligible child through the powerful impact of a wish.

Why do we grant wishes? For children like Angie, Ashon, and Oskar!

For Angie...to rekindle her spirit.

Like many little girls, Angie, 5, loves princesses. The debilitating effects of acute lymphoblastic leukemia, however, color Angie’s world and that of her family.  Angie’s wish for a fun-filled excursion to meet the princesses in person soon painted her world with happiness.  Thanks to an unforgettable journey to visit the magical world of her beloved princesses, Angie’s hope and spirit have been renewed!

For Oskar...to experience the joy of childhood friendships.

Three-year-old Oskar longed to join friends inside the little playhouse at his local park. Yet because he is confined to a wheelchair due to spinal muscular atrophy, he was unable to pass through the narrow entrance. Today, Oskar and his friends play together in his customized backyard playhouse, where he easily wheels himself through the handicapped accessible doorway and immerses himself in childhood friendships and play!

For Ashon...to give him strength to persevere.

Five-year-old Ashon’s life-threatening digestive disorder requires numerous hospital visits, medications, and frequent rest periods to deal with his discomfort and to regain strength.  Mention the video game Super Mario Brothers, however, and Ashon’s face lights up!  Now, when Ashon needs a respite, he retreats to his very own Mario Brothers-themed bedroom, where he finds contentment and rediscovers joy!

Right now, hundreds of children await the chance to express their heartfelt wishes.
Help us transform their lives!
